My research focuses on young children’s social and emotional development (infancy – early childhood) and how family factors (parenting, marital conflict, attachment, etc.) are related to children’s well-being. In particular, we focus on the development of children’s emotion and behavioral regulation. These are critical skills that affect children’s day-to-day experiences and functioning. We also include fathers in our studies because fathers are important in the lives of children but are not often included in research during early childhood. In a second and related line of work, we study the psychosocial and family predictors of early childhood obesity.  Please go to our Studies/Research page to learn more about the different projects!
